Guardian of the Person

A Guardian of the Person is an example of a limited Guardian responsible for the ward’s daily well-being.

Example responsibilities include

• making decisions about the ward’s living arrangements;
• ensuring the ward’s basic needs are met, like food, clothing, and shelter;
• making healthcare decisions for the conservatee;
• consenting to medical treatment on behalf of the ward;
• monitoring the ward’s personal care; and
• reporting to the court as needed.

Terminology involving conservatorship and guardianship vary by jurisdiction. As a result, a Guardian of the Person may be called a Guardian or Custodian of Person in your area.
