Conservator of Person

Definition

A Conservator of Person is an example of a limited Conservator responsible for the conservatee’s daily well-being.

Example responsibilities include

  • making decisions about the conservatee’s living arrangements;
  • ensuring the conservatee’s basic needs are met, like food, clothing, and shelter;
  • making healthcare decisions for the conservatee;
  • consenting to medical treatment on behalf of the conservatee;
  • monitoring the ward’s personal care; and
  • reporting to the court as needed.

Terminology involving conservatorship and guardianship vary by jurisdiction. As a result, a Conservator of Person may be called a Guardian or Guardian of the Person in your area.
