Definition

An agent is an individual or entity authorized to act on the behalf of another party, called the Principal. Agents have a fiduciary duty to their Principals.

Agents that share responsibility are called are called co-agents.

An individual or entity authorized to step in as an agent in the event the person named as an agent unable or unwilling to fulfill their duties is called a successor agent.
