Definition
Payable on Death Accounts (POD Accounts) are a type of bank account that allows the account holder to designate one or more beneficiaries who will automatically receive the funds in the account upon the account holder’s death without going through probate. The account holder retains full control of the funds during their lifetime and can change beneficiaries at any time during their lifetime.
